Dry Point Etching

Linoleum Block Print

I chose this picture because I was curious on how my sweater would turn out after it was carved and printed. I found it very difficult because I had a fair amount of white and had to carve it all out.

During my etching project it took a very long time  because there was a long process. I chose this picture because I wanted to challenge myself with the lines throughout the etch. I found it very difficult to keep the lines straight and hashing the dark areas. I was also very disappointed because the words came out backwards.

I wanted to draw something pretty, yet simple. Flowers are perfect because they are beautiful. Each flower is unique and different in their own way.

While making this design my group and I had to compromise all of our ideas to decide something that we all agreed with. With this project I found it very frustrating how long the process was to print the shirts. In the end I was happy with outcome and would do it again.

Silkscreen Project

Mono Print

I thought this project was very interesting and I had fun making my artwork. While making my practice piece I wanted to use complementary colors because I thought it would flow very well together. Then while making my final piece I decided to only focus on triangles. A ying yang pattern inspired me to split my design in half using  two different colors, light and dark. I used a monochromatic color scheme because I thought that different shades of blue would look better than two whole different colors. Overall I had a great experience and would do it again.

Block Printing Pattern

The block printing pattern process was very similar to the Linoleum project. The process was the same except the block used to carve into was much softer than before. We basically made a stamp with our blocks and made a pattern of our choice.
